I can’t disagree with you. Orkut, surprised me the most. But with everything else, I feel Google do a good job of informing you of what’s going on with your info. Particularly at sign up. And given that they have so much information on everyone, and we haven’t heard of one decent leak… then compare that to the governments in Ireland, U.k and U.S. for the amount of times they’ve exposed all our data. Makes ya think..

I had a look at my Google dashboard this afternoon and like yourself was surprised to see the amount of information held on Googles servers.
However I have signed up to all of the ‘free’ services with the knowledge that data was being gathered and really don’t have an objection to the type of data being stored if it helps fund more innovation and free services.
