Some great news. Today, coincidentally, both Eircom & Vodafone Ireland announced the same news. They both are now offering 24 MBPS DSL options. It also includes an upload speed of 768 KBPS.

Here is the details:

Eircom customers who purchase Eircom Home Turbo will benefit from an increased download allowance of 75GB per month. Eircom Home Turbo is available to both new and existing Eircom broadband customers for €47.99 (including VAT) per month

This is good news for all of us….

  1. Question…the 24Mb option on their website for €69.99 is that vat inclusive? What are the hidden costs? I’m paying around €67.00 incl vat for a 7Mb eircom bundle. So if I upgrade…do I really get over 3x the speed for just an extra €3? I must be missing something here…?

    • Ya those are form their domestic/household so they are VAT inclusive. And Yes, it should mean 24 Mb as stated. This exactly same thing happened two years ago when 7MB lines were rolled out. They had a messed pricing structure that was eventually dealt with. They dealt with it by giving every 1mb customer a 3mb line and every 3mb was given a 7mb line. So my fingers are crossed that the same will happen. Otherwise as you say, the pricing is a bit off.

Hmmm, this is great news, think we are only on Eircoms 3mb line though, still would be nice if they put us up to 7mb.

Still behind the rest of europe though.
